The glorious journey of the the Department started in the year of 1978 with BA Elective Geography with one faculty member. In 1978 the Department of Higher Education Govt. of Madhya Pradesh, introduced pure graduate programme in the college.

At present we are having undergraduate and postgraduate courses programme in Geography in (2011-12) i.e.. We are also running Elective Geography at undergraduate level.

At Post Graduate level we have PG program on Geography. This is self finance PG programme.

Geography Department is a Research Centre proposed in 2023 by Maharaja Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University Chhatarpur.
