Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology was established in 1969. First, at the graduate level, with a handful of students and one teacher, the department started postgraduate teaching, and since then, the department has been running smoothly with a sizeable number of students. Gradually, the number of students, teachers, equipment, books, and manpower has increased. At present, one professor, two assistant professors, one guest faculty member, a lab technician, and a laboratory attendant are posted in the department.
The UG syllabus is based on NEP 2020 in the annual examination system.
The PG courses are running in a semester system.
Healthy Practices
The department provides the required study material to UG as well as PG students. Textbooks, reference books, and specimen copies belonging to teachers are made available to students throughout the year.
The departmental library is open for all students during college hours every day.
The Psychology lab is available to all students for practical work.
Along with the traditional classroom setup, the department also has a smart classroom equipped with the latest technology.
Research Work in the Department
The department is a recognized research centre affiliated with MCBU Chhatarpur. Faculty members of the department are involved in research. Mayuresh Namdeo is registered as a research scholar under the supervision of Dr. S.K. Gupta.
College level Psychological Counselling Cell
The role of the counselling cell is to bring about positive behavioural changes in the students and improve their ability to make their own decisions, understand their true potential, and hope effectively for the everyday problems they face. The psychological counselling committee is comprised of the teaching faculty of the department.
Future Plans
The department's future plans include the launch of various diploma and degree courses, such as the PG Diploma in Psychological Counselling and B.Sc. (major and minor).
